NOTE: Pre-registration is requested for all programs and retreats. We accept VISA or MasterCard. You may register by telephone, email, or U.S. mail. Day, evening, series programs should be paid in full when registering. For extended programs and retreats of four or more days, a $100 deposit is due with registration. All programs/retreats paid in full 10 days prior to program start. No confirmation of registration is sent unless requested. For cancellations, up to ten (10) days prior to program start, receive full refund less $20 processing fee. No refunds within ten (10) days of program start date. However, should a program or retreat be cancelled by Genesis, a full refund will be given.

 
The Relaxability TechniqueTM: Portable Stress Reduction Solutions
January 8 - Sunday afternoon

Description:  The RelaxAbility TechniqueTM supplies 28 proven methods to reduce stress, anxiety, panic, addictions, pain, and insomnia. These portable stress reduction tools can be used for immediate relief right when you need them most, such as during a job interview, in gridlock, or during your annual review. People with stress-related illnesses such as high blood pressure and asthma will find this course especially beneficial. Autism specialists, counselors, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists and teachers will take away techniques they can rely upon in the professional setting to soothe themselves and their patients.

Jessica Sarfaraz Berger, RN, RYT, is a Stress Reduction Facilitator, Registered Yoga Teacher and Registered Nurse. She is a health and wellness writer and presenter, and the founder of ‘All Things Relaxation’, a multi-media stress-reduction company. She released her first CD, ‘Sublime Relaxations’ on Amazon, in 2010. Her upcoming book, The RelaxAbility Handbook, will be available soon.

6-Day Silent Directed and Focusing Directed Retreats
January 16-22 – Monday evening to Sunday lunch

Description:  A silent directed retreat is designed to provide time, space for prayer, and solitude. There will be opportunity to meet daily with a spiritual director thus providing time to reflect on your spiritual journey, and the presence and action of God in your life.

A silent focusing directed retreat is about presence to self, others and God, and will guide you to the deepest levels of awareness inside your body. A Focusing session with the retreat director each day will be the practical and simple framework for the retreat.

Begins Monday evening with 6 p.m. supper and concludes with lunch at noon on Sunday. Cost $425. Deposit $100. Balance due ten days prior to start of retreat.

Directed Leaders:

Mary Horgan, SP, is an experienced spiritual director and has served many years in pastoral ministry.

Rev. William Sheehan has broad experience in pastoral ministry as a pastor and in marriage counseling. He has led many Centering Prayer workshops and retreats across the country.

Focusing Leaders:

Kathi Bangert has been focusing since 1997 and has taught this process as a member of the Bio-Spiritual Focusing Team at Bon Secour Spiritual Center in Maryland.

Ruth McGoldrick, SP, MRE, consultant at Genesis, is an experienced retreat and spiritual director and Focusing facilitator.

Elizabeth Oleksak, SP, foundress of Genesis, is an experienced retreat and spiritual director and certified Focusing facilitator. She is also an eco-spirituality resource person.

Mystic Series
Dorothy Day: Don’t Call Me A Saint

January 22 – Sunday afternoon

Description:  Now being considered for sainthood, this convert to Catholicism believed that Christianity is the religion of love that we are called to live, and saw the Catholic Church as the religion of the poor, in whom we see Christ. Dorothy co-founded the Catholic Worker newspaper and urban “houses of hospitality” which she guided for 50 years. Dorothy struggled with her own flaws, took controversial stands for peace and social justice, and, made enemies. She even spent time in jail. Can she, should she, be considered a “saint for our time”? This presentation includes an outstanding documentary video and time for discussion.

2 to 4:30 p.m. Fee $25.

Hope Luder is an enthusiastic and experienced teacher of history (MAT) and anthropology. She is also the author of several articles as well as a ground-breaking pamphlet on 19th century American women.

Winter Wisdom Retreat Day
January 25 – Wednesday

Description:  Winter invites us to the silence, stillness, and solitude needed to do our inner peacekeeping. Come apart to reflect upon what is really important in your life and on how your own wisdom continues to grow as you live your life. A presentation on May Sarton, the well-known poet, novelist and journal-writer who sought wisdom through solitude, will prepare you to work in your own inner life. Prayer and sharing will be part of the format for the Retreat. An overnight option is available for those who desire an extended time for quiet prayer, reflection, and winter rest. The fee is an additional $55 and includes up to three additional meals.

Visioning and Creating Your New Life: A Six-Week Wednesday Evening Series
January 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29

Description:  Start the New Year right with this series focused on visioning and creating the life you want in relationships, work, finances, or spirituality. The classes will be experiential and are designed to help you discover what you really want, leading you on a step-by-step journey to the life of your dreams. Each class will include guided visioning exercises, many helpful tips, and support from both the instructor and the group.

6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fee, $99 for the series. Pre-registration is required.

Bill Bradley, RD, has led over 1500 wellness workshops and recently led a two-year weekly series on "Visioning and Creating Your New Life".

Usui Shiki Ryoho Class
January 27-29 – Friday evening to Sunday lunch

Description:  First-degree students will experience traditional teaching of the Usui Shiki Ryoho system. Learning this simple hands-on healing art includes: hearing the story of Usui Shiki Ryoho, four initiations of this practice which make the healing energy available, hand placements for treating ourselves and others, and practice to integrate the skills. No prior training is necessary. The weekend format, in four distinct sessions, ensures integration of energy and learning.

Begins Friday at 7:30 p.m. and concludes with lunch at noon on Sunday. Resident with private room $295; Semi-private room $275; Commuter with meals $225; Commuter without meals $195. Deposit $50. Balance due ten days prior to start of program.

Golden Heart Yoga: A Day Retreat for Self-Renewal and Rejuvenation [Cancelled]
January 28 – Saturday

Description:  Start the new year right with a stress-reducing mini retreat. Nurture yourself through gentle yoga, Qigong, journaling techniques and more. Golden Heart Yoga emphasizes the concepts of mindfulness and healthy living through movement and meditation resulting in a greater sense of well-being, vital energy and inner peace. Please bring your yoga mat.
